Submitting to The Educated Birth

Hey! You’re amazing! Welcome! Thank you for your interest in being a contributor to The Educated Birth. All submissions made here are eligible for approval for publication on our Articles page as well as in Everyday Birth Magazine.

We are a non-exclusive site.

This means we will publish your content even if it has already been published elsewhere. We just ask that you let us know where else the writing/photos have been published and know that you are not breaking any of those publications terms by re-submitting to us.

This also means that you are welcome to republish on your own websites/social media platforms anything you have had published by us.

Our writing style...

is positive, conversational, easy-to-skim, and uses inclusive language. What do we mean by inclusive language? At the core, we mean that we’re mindful. We use gender neutral terms (ex. pregnant people, birthing parent, lactating parent) because we don’t know the gender identity of the people who are reading, and we want to make sure everyone knows we’re including them in this space to learn. This is not a rejection of gendered language for those who identify with it. Personal reflections and storytelling submissions can use the terms that fit the writer’s or subject’s gender identity.

The types of posts we publish…

We look for posts that span the categories of sex + relationships, fertility, pregnancy, all outcomes of pregnancy, postpartum + the first year of life. Whatever your idea, pitch it to us!

Sponsored posts…

We do review and accept promotional posts from professionals, businesses and organizations. If you’re interested in creating educational content that promotes your work with our audience, learn more here.

Writer compensation…

As we grow, we'd love to be able to offer direct monetary payment to online writers as we do for print writers in Everyday Birth Magazine. In the meantime, we are able to offer discounts on The Educated Birth products to published contributors.

By submitting to us, you acknowledge that you have read and agreed to our terms and conditions

We also ask that you do not submit content to us unless you are the copyright owner of the content, or have their permission. For photo submissions, this is most often the photographer.
